The hoarse buzz is probably a main or support bearing failing. When they do they become pitted and noisy.
It could be either the LT230 or the R380/LT77 and the only real way to tell is to drop the gearboxes and inspect them. Incidentally, my experience is that within 200 miles of this noise the bearing failed at 70mph and grenade'd 5th causing massive internal damage. Be careful and get it checked over. If you decide one or other of the gearboxes need an overhaul it is a very rewarding DIY job to do |

OP appears to have a Puma, so an MT82 main box. If the noise was associated with a loss of drive I'd say output adaptor shaft coupling, but there are so many things it could be it's almost impossible to diagnose remotely.

the MT82's have an issue where the spigot bearings collapse and chew the end of the input shaft, this would be noisy when you dip the clutch, Dave
