What did you use for the fuel pump? Mines a side mount with a RRC pump. |

Thanks , fuel pump I used one from the US , I can look it up but I kept the TD5 tank and fuel pump assembly, just modified it to take a generic Efi pump - so the tank fittings are standard , then ran new AN fittings off it with PTFE lines to the front.
The vehicle will need to get inspected by a certifier for modification as I’ve changed the engine. On entry into NZ they flagged only a bit of rust “underneath” , “in the rear, and the left, and the right, and the front”. So fairly standard- again that means inspection hence why I’ve gone over the top a bit on fuel lines with clips every 300mm etc etc |

I can’t seem to get the images in order to save myself, so apologies, possibly as I can barely see my fingers anymore let alone a phone screen. Age is a bitch

Gotcha, looks great tbh and pretty Oem. You just need a one eyed man with a stick to get it on the road in the uk
Here’s mine. Went bronze green in the end. Colour choice is the hardest bit! Click image to enlarge |

Will look great. Only prob in the uk is that every other one is this colour. I wanted a darker colour to contrast the galv/painted fittings
Gonna be an ace build |

Thanks all,
I’ve done the transfer box now, the 1.1 ratio is in however I’m keeping the 1.4 and can swap it. Im intrigued why a 1.4 is better ? The factory v8 was 1.192 I think ? The Puma is 1.2 with a Ford diesel? Oh well I guess I’ll find out the hard way, running standard wheels and tyres.. |

Although the diesels thrive on having high gearing to pull against the RV8 always feels lazy in the higher gears particularly on motorway inclines etc. We found the engine much more willing to perform without having to kickdown or change down to 4th on a manual. Higher ratios were originally intended for vehicles only fitted with 205/80 x16 or 235/70 x16 tyres and with much better aerodynamics than a flat screen Defender.

I've fitted a Lexus 4.3 V8 to my 110 with a BMW 6 speed gear box and it feels short geared with a Puma 1.211 transfer box so I'm going with a 1.1 gearing. That said another guy on this forum has done the same conversion in a 90 with an R380 gearbox and when I spoke to him he felt his was too long at 1.2 and he's considering going 1.4. Having said all that I was quite suprised when I came to a particularly steep hill how far down the box I had to go as Linds says aerodynamics and vehicle weight do come into play Citroen 2CV.
