I bought one from china....does the job, but can remark the following:
1. If you have an early/evening sun direct into the windshield, hard to see. 2. The smallest I could find at cheap price is bit long, that fouls with the sunshades. Defender sunshades are huge as well!!! 3. It blocks a bit too much from the field of view (centre portion of the windshield). 4. The defender rear view camera ball socket is not very tight, and can drop by the slightest add on weight. I had to put some thread lock in the ball socket. That expanded a bit and made it tighter. For what I paid, it has been very good. 1988 90 Hard Top, 19J Diesel Turbo, Shire Blue - Restoration ongoing 2012 90 CSW, 2.2TDCI, Santorini Black |

Thanks for the thoughts. They seem pretty big limitations of them especially the size bit Vs the mirrors.
It just seemed a really neat way of getting a screen without sticking a big thing on the dash I guess. I guess the Chinese ones are pretty good value could give it a go. |

I'm also trying one of these 'screen mirrors' and had the dropping problem due to the loose ball. I also get a lot of vibration when moving which make the image in the mirror 'non optimal'. Did you have that problem wit yours? The fixings that came with mine are like rubber bungees that attach around the original mirror, did you have those fixings? Andrew |

Only 2 days ago there was another post on droopy rear view mirror!
https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic84298.html Never had or noticed a vibration issue. Only use it when parking in tight spaces or hitching a trailer. Mine is with ‘clamps’ with internal springs that clamp on to the original mirror. Been good for over 2 years now. 1988 90 Hard Top, 19J Diesel Turbo, Shire Blue - Restoration ongoing 2012 90 CSW, 2.2TDCI, Santorini Black |

I've investigated my drooping mirror with the screen mirror strapped to it:
I tried PTFE tape and it drooped I tried pieces of double sided adhesive tape in the ball socket, it drooped I took the screen mirror off and the original mirror then drooped which it didn't before so things had got worse. I cleaned the ball with isopropyl alchohol and the original mirror didn't droop, but the screen mirror did. I used abrasive paper on the ball and the original mirror, the screen mirror still drooped. I then used a temperature controlled heat gun set to 140C to heat up the socket edges, the screen mirror then stopped drooping. The ball is noticeably tighter in the socket. i think the socket for the ball may have enlarged in heat and me moving the mirror about recently. Heating it allow sit to relax back to it's original, tighter, shape. maybe. The vibration is still there, it's from road vibration and i can't get rid of it. |

Aargh!
I've tried taping the mirror to the original mirror, taped a lump of brass and a strip of steel to the back, used double sided sticky tape to tape new mirror to old, removed squishy pads on the back of the new mirror, tried upside down, tried tightening the bungees, and it still wobbles.... I have noticed a bit of play on the mirror stalk mount and the fixing underneath the mirror stalk only has 2 screws holing it on for some reason, not 3. maybe it's that? Original mirror is still fine. Do the screws holding the mirror fixing have nuts behind them, or do they run in tapped holes? |

Older Defenders screw into rivnuts. Not entirely sure if they are still rivnuts on newer ones, or were changed to spire clips (for self tappings). 1988 90 Hard Top, 19J Diesel Turbo, Shire Blue - Restoration ongoing

I had one of those clip on rear view mirror camera screen thingies. I took it off, the extra weight caused vibration and droop.
There is this which is a direct swap. https://defenderupgrades.co.uk/product/lan...nitor-kit/ I've not tried it yet. I'm also looking at a wireless camera that works with a phone app. Most of the time reversing with the mirrors is OK. I would only need a camera in a really tight space. |

Used the Defender over the weekend and today, and noticed that there is vibration in the rear view mirror. I had not noticed that before... think I always use the side mirrors during normal driving 1988 90 Hard Top, 19J Diesel Turbo, Shire Blue - Restoration ongoing 2012 90 CSW, 2.2TDCI, Santorini Black |

So similar https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005003578...2345%21sea What I do not like about it is that it is designed for left hand drive vehicles. 1988 90 Hard Top, 19J Diesel Turbo, Shire Blue - Restoration ongoing 2012 90 CSW, 2.2TDCI, Santorini Black |
