AC or no AC
New to the defender scene ….
Bought a 2003 90 xs
Supposed to have AC
The manual states to turn the left of the 2 dials on the right of the steering wheel , for me just turning the left one has no use I have to turn the right one too.
Is this correct or do I have an issue with my ac unit
Thanks Ben

Correct. Need to use both dials. And soon you will have the coldest set of vehicle keys in the world, and possibly one cold knee. Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter

It may need regassing after a few years or if you’ve had leak. Mine has been good for many years, but don’t really use it. Couple of times a year just to keep the oil going around the system.

So…..
I took it to be re gassed and they’ve said I need 2 new valves where the gas is put in and a new condenser radiator.
Is this a fix at home ?

Everything can be fixed at home... but on a pressurised system I'd leave it to the Pros

Price up a replacement condenser first they are not cheap. The valves they are talking about are pennies (very little money). How bad is your condenser?

If it needs new valves and a new condenser there will be no pressure/gas left so a simple job.

Last year I fitted a larger aftermarket condenser - simple 30 minute job. Still cold as ice this year

Same as this one https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/194353227788. > 110 XS Double Cab
