The switch is attached to the lever / handle mechanism inside the cab, normally inside the rubber boot. It just has one wire going to it which comes through from behind so under the vehicle by the seat box.
Pull the rubber boot off inside and all will be clear |

Maybe I have a bulb in the wrong location… maybe the light is actually for something else. Have to take the dash out and maybe look at the wires / colors. I k is there is a schematic out in the wild web somewhere

Doesn’t even look like you have the mounting holes in your lever assembly.

My 1988 90 does not use that Park Brake indicator. The binnacle was also used on Leyland trucks, not just LandRovers, so there are unused warning lights. Could be something done by a previous owner?
As I have commented on your other thread, if the oil level in the brake master is low, it will actually illuminate the warning sign under the battery warning, not the Park Brake. Edit: Or was it the one on the right of the battery warning... was so long ago 😭 1988 90 Hard Top, 19J Diesel Turbo, Shire Blue - Restoration ongoing 2012 90 CSW, 2.2TDCI, Santorini Black |

Ah ok thank you how do I check the master level? Is it located under the hood? Thank you so much

Yes, located under the hood, right above where the brake pedal is located. You might see a sticker / sign to only use Dot3 from a sealed container. You may also use Dot4 as Dot3 is probably hard to find (and is lower specs anyway). 1988 90 Hard Top, 19J Diesel Turbo, Shire Blue - Restoration ongoing

Thank you for the help, I will take a look tomorrow. I also attached a photo of the bulb harness. Looks like the wire colors are white with a green stripe and black

That is a strange wire combination. Land Rover used to use white for supply on the bulb and then a colored (striped or solid) color to the switch that grounds the circuit.
Any idea where the wires go to? Do they go into the main harness? 1988 90 Hard Top, 19J Diesel Turbo, Shire Blue - Restoration ongoing 2012 90 CSW, 2.2TDCI, Santorini Black |

i had a recent leak on one of the metal brake pipes going to the rear, had the same as you with the flickering light at first but then stayed lit, after checking the handbrake switch the reservoir was the next port of call. 2016 Range Rover Autobiography 4.4 TDV8

Thanks for all the help. I did some searching for wiring schematics, and it’s interesting as they all seem to vary? I decided to go ahead an order a service manual. Figured be good to have if I am going to try and fix these things. According to one schematic I found… green with white strip is signal indicator?
I’ll have to dig In the dash and try to follow the wire Click image to enlarge |

I think the low fluid level in the reservoir illuminates the BRAKE (!) warning light, not the PARK BRAKE. 1988 90 Hard Top, 19J Diesel Turbo, Shire Blue - Restoration ongoing 2012 90 CSW, 2.2TDCI, Santorini Black |
