Done exactly the same! At the point I made the call not to replace the loose render but to strip it all off, every other square inch of the stuff was stuck like sh!t to a blanket!! I feel your pain!

Yes I bought a house that had been empty for 7 years after a old lady died

I cant wait to get my life back tbh

It sounds daft but that’s what I did. Sold a 3 bed semi in Dinas Powys and bought a 4 bedroom detached in Tenby. Best move I ever did mate. I wish you all the best in your new home 👍 |

Reminds me of the time I saw the wife getting ready for bed and I thought "There's a lot of remedial work needed there." Any takers? Be warned it would be a fairly substantial undertaking

Haha the joys of period properties!
Everyone wants a house with character, but the character of our house is that of a  arsehole.
Our place has been repeatedly bodged over the last 30/40 years. I do a lot of it myself and it’s very satisfying to stand back and admire a job well done; but days like today, I just pull my hair out. I’ll let you know how I get on with the concrete grinding cup. 2011 CSW XS 90 |

Me and my dad are doing DIY jobs in the house, Just to give him something to do while he is retired. We are planning before we do a job, we have a roof to felt, which is going to be fun job that, and expensive one too.
last week, my dad decided to level the floor out in the wash house, the pavement slabs weighed about a ton. we had to move 3 of them, and what a faff on we had getting one back into place. We must have been on with one, for about an hour 
then to top it all off, the last one we ended up breaking in two
I tell you what lads, my dads legs were giving him some right hell during that night, and my groin where i was operated on when i was 3 years old, to remove an hernia, was giving me some right hell for best part of the week.
