Missing plug - 300TDI/R380
Hi All,

I'm just starting to get to know my new 1987 defender 90 with retro fitted 300TDI / R380.

whilst taking a look underneath I spotted what appears to be a missing plug from the engine block.

Does anyone know whether this should be plugged? - Please see attached photos;

There should be a similar hole at the front of the engine in the bottom of the timing belt housing.

The bell housing one is used to lock the engine at tdc when doing the timing belt. There's an extra slot in the flywheel that the locking pin engages with.

Thank you, yes, there's another unplugged hole in the timing belt housing.

Put them in in the morning before you go playing in muddy puddles and ponds. Take them out at the end of the day.
