As in it has the wrong sender fitted in the engine? Charlie

Righto. I’ve ordered a new sender in case. It’s the original factory gauge. Charlie

Thread resurection!
I have similar. Needle only just registers. Thermostat is good and car gets up to temp ok. Changed sender no joy.... |

Did this fix the issue? Mine is just with a specialist having the carbs refurbished, and he's having a look to see if its getting to temp which would point to the guage as the thermostat is new... |
