After some time I am a bit disappointed with Kenwood KDC BT61. One can set wide range of settings and parameters but once you disconnect the battery for a while all is gone. e.g. Last month: - firmware update - IBS relay change - other electric works On top of this I had to reset unit three times as it stopped to read USB port (last time two hours ago). Each time it goes back to default demo mode with all settings gone (station presets included). It makes me ![]() www.yahodeville.com |

Hi,
I just replace the genuine stereo with a Kenwood KDC BT51U that drives my iphone, bluetooth, etc, etc ... next step: changing the speakers, and this topic will help me a lot I think! ![]() Click image to enlarge Clever, you can choose the highlight color so you can set it very close to the dashboard green light ![]() |

I've got one as well! It is standard size however only about 2/3 of the depth due to no CD player. Just enough room to fit an Alpine slimline amplifier behind if you so wish! More details here:... http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic7481.h...t+asteroid http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic6967.h...p;start=30 If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!! it's din size width and height but not as deep at the std unit. all plugs straight into the standard land rover leads. really helps if you have a mobile with a data package to use internet radio, google maps. there's been a few firmware upgrades in the last couple of months .. the unit gets better and better. works with iphone 3/4 and lots of others not sure about iphone 4S yet, but will find out soon ![]() |

Regarding speakers, and after trying various combinations, I have finally found a set of front speakers that seem to give the best 'bang for the buck' in my 110.
http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/ground-zero-gzrc100fx.html I was loathe to pay £250 for the (alternative) Focal speaker setup, but found the cheapo £40 full range speakers lacking. These have a great soundstage (very clear and 'deep'), can be driven quite well without distortion, and the (quite large, but fittable) crossovers have plenty of tweaking to tune things perfectly (I set the distance jumper position to high, phase to normal, tweeters +2dB). Plus the tweeters fit perfectly in the original tweeter holes (n a Puma). I can highly recommend them. Since my Kenwood KIV-700 has lot of 'tweakability' (possibly too much!), it's been fun to play with the DTA to give a great soundstage - I can actually 'place' where the vocalist is, and separate instruments (something I never thought I could achieve in a Defender!). I used mine with afoermentioned set of cheapo full range Pioneers in the rear, plus a £100 Kenwood subwoofer mounted under the 2nd row seats. Very pleased with the setup now. ![]() 2010 110 XS USW (the slow one) 1960 Alfa Romeo Giulietta SZ (the fast one) 2005 Ducati ST3 1954 Sunbeam S8 |

Can any of you guys with the Parrot head unit AND iPhone tell me if you can still run apps on the phone (i.e. navigation like TomTom) whilst it is plugged in to the Parrot?
Or does the Parrot take over the phone, so you can't do anything else with it? I'm having difficulty with my JVC - I can do navigation OR music stream OR phone, but not all three at once. I want to be able to run my TomTom & stream music through the car speakers (the app fades the music in and out), and then also take a call if one comes through? Thanks! |

Hiya,
There is a setting in the Tomtom app - Think it may be under 'advanced options' - to fade the music (or not) when giving route instructions. I run a Kenwood KIV-700 with Kenwood's KCA BT300 (which is basically a Parrot bluetooth unit), and I can stream music, do satnav, AND run apps, all at the same time. If you want any help, I'm actually around in Stow tomorrow... ![]() Regards, James P.S. Meant to reply about the N. Cots meetup - Mount Inn sounds a good idea! Perhaps we should put something in 'events'..

Thanks BPMan - if it works with the 4 (on iOS5) I'm sure it will be just the same with 4S...
Do you know if DAB is available? Maybe with a plug-in box? Hi James - I'll take a look at the settings in TomTom when I've loaded it - I've been waiting for v1.9 (iOS5 compatibility) which they were late in releasing - but it's out now. Spent out though this month, so will have to wait another week! I had read that it will do the fade-out-in though. I'm on toddler duty tomorrow (as it's half-term so no child-minder), so will probably be hanging around the village. Would be good to see your set-up though, maybe next time? Mount Inn lunchtime meet would be great - I'm free most weekends after bonfire night! |

IOS5 - installed, so should not be a problem on 4S - good to know The parrot has a USB, Line In, and iPod external connector and a SD slot. So DAB should be fine, however it also has internet radio, so on a "all you can eat" data package .. phone does all the internetting and radio does the tuning, but I also have "tune-in" radio app on iphone so lots of choices ! The parrot really is quite a good radio and with android operating system and regular updates it's getting better and better. |

BTW, I did notice on the Parrot site that tethering on the 4S is not possible at the moment, but they are working on an update.
