Do Sony car stereos still do that annoying "beepity beep beep" thing after you switch the engine off, to remind you to remove the front plate?
Thats probably the only reason I've not had a Sony one for years Mark 2011 110 XS DC Stornoway Grey |

Click image to enlarge Kenwood BT61U with Bluetooth, iPod / iPhone and USB, only thing it's missing is DAB, but at £170 it's a very good head unit. http://www.kenwood-electronics.co.uk/produ...KDC-BT61U/ |

So there are three of us Note - I had to update the firmware - the BT refused to work after few weeks. Now it's fine (Samsung Solid 2100). Janusz www.yahodeville.com |

Mine has an ALM option on the menu... Not listed in the book! I can turn the beeps off from there, but being completely brain dead, I need the beeps to remind me to detach the front panel! ... ,-------, .. I [__][_]|__ .. I __ |"_|"__| .. Having heard the kids singing in the rear of the Puma, it makes me realise that the original Land Rover head unit is quite adequate after all. 1982 88" 2.25 diesel

Her Highness and Sirs, I object! There is no upgrading a stereo on recent defenders, as this requires something to be replaced! The surprise gift with a scale does not qualify for a stereo ... imho Never forget: cars have owner, Landrover have field service personnel.

Just got the truck back today from an audio upgrade done by John Kleis in Reading. I'm very very pleased with the sound - I like my music (club, pop, rock, jazz) load. If anyone is interested then the set-up that I went for is
Alpine CDE126 BT head unit Focal BUS20 active subwoofer under the rear seat Rainbow 4" component speakers in front/treeter Pioneer TSX150 3 way pod speakers mounted to the load guard above passenger head height Disconnect rear speakers but leave in situ iPod in cubby box The rear load guard mounted pods gets over the problem of the rear OEM speakers being covered up by items in the back (tents, sleeping bags, boxes etc) Under rear seat for the subwoofer gets over the vibration in the bum problem if you put the subwoofer in the under driver seat space - and you have a moderately better chance of keeping it dry if you go wading The rainbow speaker units handle 80W but their slim throw doesn't require thick mounting collars on the passenger side to keep away from the a/c/heater ducting there. Just got a few tweaks to do on the subwoofer gain and high pass filter settings just to confirm that I can't get anything more out of the system - but I've had a pretty big grin "kickin ass" and annoying the neighbours Problem now is I can't hear the engine and subwoofer makes the rear shock outter casing rattle Oh! And my ears have started bleeding |
