255/85/16 I have Toyo muds fitted on genuine Wolfs - wearing very well and are quieter than the Cooper STT I had before. Plus they are very reasonably priced

235/85/16 on Boost alloys look well. The Michelin Latitude Cross AT is a very comfortable ride with good stopping power on wet ground. Also check out the Davanti Terratoura AT is a good all rounder with the added bonus that it comes with the snow flake symbol for those wintry days. My daughter has them on a 90 300 tdi. Lots of mixed driving i.e. roads, muddy fields and horse box towing.

235/85 is the standard metric size. Some models were also fitted with 265/75's, which are ok too and fit on standard alloy wheels.
These are 235/85 General Grabber AT3's, which are excellent, on Boost alloys and 30mm spacers: Click image to enlarge Darren 110 USW BUILD THREAD - EXPEDITION TRAILER - 200tdi 90 BUILD THREAD - SANKEY TRAILER - IG@landroveranorak "You came in that thing? I think the factory sizes were 265/75 for 90s and always 235/85 fitted to 110s (presumably to maintain some degree of turning ability by not restricting the steering angle as much?)

Yes, that's right. From the factory it was a 90 thing. Plenty of people run them on 110's too, but my comment was more to confirm that they use the same wheels. Darren

I too will be looking to replace my tires and am following this thread.
Has anyone had both the 235 85R16 and 265 75R16 tires on their vehicles. My 90 currently has the 235's and I was wondering how the ride differs between the two sizes, both in steering and road feel since the 265's are so much wider? How do they compare turning at low speeds? |

Now:
Click image to enlarge I had 265's for a bit, but found they pulled the steering if you hit a puddle at the side of the road... plus the mud over the door handles... so am now back with the 235's. Before: Click image to enlarge |

There was obviously a reason Land Rover went back to 235 after fitting 265s for a few years on 90s...
I like my 235 michelin latitude cross tyres on my td5 90, ride nicely, quiet and LR were fitting these tyres to defenders at one point. 2004 Defender 90 Td5 CSW 2002 Discovery 2 td5 GS (gone) 1994 Defender 90 300Tdi CSW (gone) |

Thanks for the comments. I will stick with the 235's.
Don't know if you can get them on your side of the pond but I put Bridgestone Dueler H/L on my 2016 Ram pickup and loved the ride so much I stuck them on my '67 Dodge D100 as well (I live on a farm). I will see if I can get them in 16's. Will also check out the Michelin Latitudes. Thanks again. |
