Just wanted to share this with you
The problem I'm having is being dealt with by the dealer I bought the car from and land rover, but I still thought I should share this with other puma owners.

The Image above shows a deep spot weld with a crack running the join between the windscreen and front edge of the roof.
The image below shows the result of that crack. There is a matching one on the other side, though not as big and it dosen't leak water. My Land Rover is a Defender 110 XS, built last november and registered in February this year.

Is this a case for Sikaflex 221, or are you pursuing a warranty claim (sounds like warranty from your thread)?

I have bought a tube of Sikaflex, and plan to fill any cracks/gaps before winter (such as the rear cappings). Mine's staying dry just now, but just for belt & braces...

Some say it's a good idea to get some Sika under the window seals to prevent any water ingres? Defender "Puma" 2.4 110 County Utility (possibly the last of the 2.4's)

I agree with MOG, the roof is not fit for purpose - how can they sell vehicles like this ?

How are the dealers resolving the issue Elliot, they have already had the roof lining out to try and rectify the problem if I remember correctly Rolling Eyes So is this now the first external repair of the seal now split once again?

The dealer I bought it from was very candid with me and told me to reject the vehicle, so earlier this week I sent the rejection letter. Just waiting to hear back. Cannot fault the dealer at all.

There are other problems with the body work as well, particularly the quality of the spot welding and the welding around the bulkhead. Prior to this puma I had a 2001 TD5, however due to the LEZ, I had to sell it. The TD5 gave me a comparison between the old and the new and I have to say I very disappointed in the build quality and attention to detail. I do have more photos if anybody want s to see.

The paint spraying leads a lot to be desired as well. Along the roof guttering there are places where the paint is so thin, I can see the yellow etched primer underneath, the same around the off side rear door hinges. There are places where the body was not wiped down or cleaned before painting and the debris has been over painted.

I love Defenders and as with everybody, else except it's foibles, but I don't think this is acceptable.
The reason for the post was to warn other puma owners whose vehicle was built around the same time, just to check and make sure they don't have something similar.

Sorry to hear it, she was a beauty, you kept her in VERY good condition Sad Good to hear the dealer (my dealer also!) are behind you Thumbs Up

At least we know the seal in the corners up the side and along the front is definitely worth keeping an eye on Thumbs Up

Are you going to get another?????

Although I would never condone poor workmanship on any vehicle never mind a £20K Land Rover.... it does make me think that a new Defender built to 21st century standards is long over due! Bring on 2015 eh?!?

I hope you get your problems fixed!

PS - The footwell leak came standard on many 300tdi

I've got some more pictures. Below is a picture of a spot weld with very rough raised edge on the wing top. There are numerous examples of this over the entire vehicle.

This is the bulkhead. The hot spot in the middle of the picture is a peak, which is going to chip at some point in the future.

This the paint coming off the rear gutter, again, these are just examples as it is coming off in multiple places.

This picture is slightly harder to see, as I took it in bright sunlight, but is of the hinge with the paint missing around it.

My biggest worry is that 3 or 4 years the second hand value of this vehicle is compromised by paint problems. I do however love this car and when it was first suggested, by the Dealer, that I reject it, I said no.
