I hope this is true. I'd be curious to drive the new 2.2 in it. Power output is unchanged they say. I wonder how it feels to drive.

I know it's wrong but 2.2 litres just sounds too small for a Defender!!

2.4 is small enough!

But yes, I'm aware that even 2 litre diesels can pump out over 200bhp in some road cars... Defender 110XS SW gone... now VW California 180 4 Motion.

Nope - it's just the thought of going smaller that's all! A big 2 tonne 110 with a 2.2 just seems a bit wrong...! Same when the T5 Transporters went from 2.5 5 pots to 2.0 4 pots - power actually increased but it still "feels" a bit wrong! Defender 110XS SW gone... now VW California 180 4 Motion.

Don't be so literal John! It's bound to sound/feel different somehow. Engine tone with every Defender engine is different. Same engine, but different stroke but as said by others it does sound like too weedy an engine in such a vehicle.

Korando engine XDi200 delivers 173 HP@4000 rpm and 36 kgm/2000-3000 rpm and I`m sure it`s better than a fordy Puma 110" SW

If this is true and the 110/130 will possible go on until 2020 they can hardly call the DC100 a Defender as the "older" Defender will still be in production. My guess is that the DC100 will be introduced as a new standalone model and the boffins at Solihihull will get more time to come up with a "real" replacement for the Defender.
Also regarding the above, I happen to like the sound of the Tdci engine. I think it sounds refined compared to the tdi. It pulls willingly and over long distances it is a joy to use. So long as it does the job the cc does not bother me. Overall the Puma gets the thumbs up from me. 1982 88" 2.25 diesel
