Bowler 18" sale question
Stumbled across 4 x 18" Bowler wheels and tyres for £1,750. Tyres are Gen Grabber AT3 265/65/18s
Blurb reads:

"....These were purchased brand-new for £2400, they have just been put on vehicles never been on the road just used to push it about As you can see there a macular...."

Entertaining spelling and grammer aside, I've enquired, no receipts available, so question is, too good to be true and likely pinched?

Thoughts?

I think I'd be asking lots of questions to see if genuine. Normally if stolen they ignore you, then just report them! James

If stolen then they are likely to actually be used, if the tyres still have the pips etc on them it could actually be genuine that they were brought and a change of plan resulted in the sale.

If its local I would go look see and make a judgement on what the seller says DEFENDER 90 TDCI XS,

I hope everyone is well and your land rovers make you happy

Not wanting to be the kill joy but "new/unused" might still be the result of credit card fraud or similar or a delivery/collect scam - just a way to convert ill-gotten gains to cash.

I’d be asking questions of source, and some kind of receipt, invoice or CC statement, but also contact the supposed source independently.

Be careful since it may be a scam to catch you, or another unwitting owner.

As said if it looks too good to be true….. Zaid-M

tbh, I don't see any reason to think it's too good to be true.

Second hand parts, even unused, are not worth the same as new from the retailer/manufacturer. There has to be a reasonable saving in order to get someone to buy them from you, rather than from the manufacturer.

Obviously if you were about to spend 2.4k on those exact wheels, then 1.7k is a good deal. but if you're only considering buying some new wheels, 1.7k might just be a 'good enough' price to get you think seriously about buying some.

Clearly (as with any purchase of this type), you should ensure that you can be comfortable that they are not stolen etc, but that's just common sense.

Many thanks - have gone back to the seller with a number of politely worded questions. Principally around proof of purchase. As a "Business" he must have some proof of purchase somewhere he can use to demonstrate legitimacy. Also, pips on "new" tyres etc
