Cable stuck through firewall
Hello everyone,

I am trying to thread a new antenna cable through a firewall in a tdci Defender. I manage to pull it through using the same firewall where the old antenna cable was.

But after pulling the plug through it seems to be stuck behind a wireloom. Has anyone experienced the same? Any quick fixes, other than completely dismantling the dashboard, which seems like a pretty big job?

All help is appreciated….

Niels

I did this same job recently in my USW. You’ve done the tricky bit already in getting it through the bulkhead/firewall grommet. May just be snagging on something back there.

Whilst I did mine my ‘piggy back’ from the old aerial cable came off leaving me frantic. However I just fed more cable through from the engine bay side and a loop formed, shone a head torch in from the centre dash gap and was able to carefully grab the loop with long nose pliers. Hope this helps.

Removing the dashboard on a tdci is actually a breeze.
Then you are also sure that nothing is being pulled and no risk of chafing.
While dash is off can check and improve rust proofing behind dash. 1988 90 Hard Top, 19J Diesel Turbo, Shire Blue - Restoration ongoing
