Yes - and No!
The front of the casing needs to be swapped, not a massive job and fairly easy to do. As for needing it? It changes the throttle map to suit off road driving conditions, but is not essential. Tou could always wire a manual switch in aat a later date. 2002 Defender 110 DC |

I fitted an ex 300 disco t/box to my 110, never bothered with the switch; I don't (personally, you may disagree) like the "low range" throttle response.... 90% of it does hardly anything then the last 10% revs up to max throttle.
I think it's designed for people who havn't mastered the knack of holding their ankle still whilst going over rough ground and then kangarooing. |

Had the same problem when i fitted a 300 disco transfer to a mates td5. Planning on swapping mine after getting it remapped tomorow but will probably go for a disco td5 transfer and hopefully should be a more straightforward fit(providing i get one with difflock )

Hi
You can do as mentioned leave them for later and fit a switch and it wont make any real difference to how it drives though im sure you can still have the switch fitted but may be in a slightly different location on the Tcase or a different switch is used I forget now.. I asume you are fitting a Disco box that still has diff lock ? The low range map and switch is only used when in low range and in standard from does not make that much difference, Though I do use them on many cars for when I add a special map to it at remap time that gives even more torque for off road use.
