Hinges - Billet Aluminum Vs Stainless Steel
Apologies as I realise that this topic has been discussed to some extent already, but struggling to find a definitive answer.

Despite my best efforts the hinges on my 110 have start to succumb to rust and corrosion as well as bubbling of the windscreen blocks and I've been considering taking the plunge and replacing them.

I'd like to keep them to as close to the original design as possible and have them painted to match the rest of the defender.

I've been looking at the yrm stainless steel, has anyone any experience of painting these (either diy or professionally)?

And are there any significant advantages/disadvantages between the billet aluminum (offroad monkey, gore etc.) or the stainless steel?

I ummed and ahhed for a long time about hinges when I replaced all the doors on my DCPU a few years back. I like the look of the billet hinges (except for the Optimill) but the prices are just crazy. I also like the look of the original hinges. I ended up getting these and spraying them with black smooth hammerite. The paint has been chipped in a few places since, but that's not the fault of the hinges - which are good.
