I doubt any will sell in the UK - it looks destined for USA and Middle East sales, where it will look quite small....... 2015 90 XS SW Bowler

That ass would still look big wherever you put it. It is however another fabulous step towards worldwide genericism... Starbucks, McDonalds and Defenders on every street corner

Too true, after all from pigs bacon cometh.
That 130 would probably lead to uncomfortable questions about whether certain anatomical regions "look big in this" Defender 130... Shortly before posting an Instachatbook photo... |

I doubt they will manage a pick up with a 1 tonne capacity with that wheel base.

I would be extremely surprised given the current path the Defender is on that we will ever see another Defender pick-up, not on the current Defenders platform. It may happen but I am doubtful. The question is, would I be happy to see the above monstrosity released with a pickup bed on airbags and belt-like tyres?! And would it be anything other than a carpark crawler fashion item. Only time will tell. But I am doubtful if it arrives it will be particularly useful. |

None whatsoever, I'd say. It's a niche market of no interest at all to the current directing minds at JLR. I have no doubt it will sell. There are already enough big, ugly, flamboyant, yobbish, tasteless, and pointless vehicles on the road to prove they sell well, usually but not exclusively to people with matching characteristics. The fact that it is badly and offensively parked on the pavement is not an encouraging omen but future owners will argue that it is an off-road vehicle. |

V-Class is longer and wider than New Defender. Never had serious problems with parking. |

Ah but you folks over in Germany have probably updated your car parking space specifications since the 1960s. Here in good ol Blighty we set out spaces that are just big enough to get a Rover Metro in to and be able to open the doors.
When it comes to the new Defender, these are the new parking rules... Click image to enlarge And bearing in mind that is a 90, a 130 is just going to stick out much much further. Even if this driver did park between the lines, if there were other vehicles on either side he'd have to get out the rear door. |
