Water Leak Problem solving
So I've had my defender nearly a year, and I feel like I'm almost on top of my water leaks.

I've built dams out of putty to direct water over the wings instead of down the back of the front bulkhead and refreshed all of the sealant around bolt holes etc.

I've changed the windscreen "hinge" blocks and seals and stopped ingress there.

I've also sealed around the rear windows.

I seem to still have an occasional issue depending on direction of rain that results in water dripping out of the head lining on the drivers side. I think it's water collecting in the "rails" along the bottom of the roof comes forward when I brake (I have only ever noticed it when driving after its stood in rain, not when I get to the car)

My Windscreen seal is cracked and perished around the corners so getting that sorted tomorrow along with a new heated screen, and while I think that will stoop the last bits of seepage at the front, I doubt is the cause of the water in the roof lining.

My first guess was alpine lights, but these seem on inspection to be ok and there's no sign of water traces in the dust up there (but there is water in the rails when it happens).

On initial inspection the roof seam doesn't seem split from the outside.

Any thoughts?

I’m assuming you have seen a copy of the water ingress manual, unfortunately it’s a weighty tome .

But just in case https://www.landroverweb.com/Pdf-files/Man...Manual.pdf

Although it is a bit of a hassle to do, removing the headlining will often reveal witness marks if water has been getting in above the cantrail level. If there are not witness marks, an assistant with a hose can often reveal the leak.

It is possible to get large amounts of condensation on the inside of the room under some atmospheric conditions, but from your description it sounds more likely to be a leak.

That interior shot looks like a worse version of what I have. will go around the roof and have a closer look, and I need to get head lining out soon anyway as I need to fit a work light and rear camera

Might also be worth looking at the external joint/seam where the ‘vertical’ part of the roof meets the gutter. I found a hairline crack that I ‘treated’ using Captain Tolley’s.
