Although it is a bit of a hassle to do, removing the headlining will often reveal witness marks if water has been getting in above the cantrail level. If there are not witness marks, an assistant with a hose can often reveal the leak.
It is possible to get large amounts of condensation on the inside of the room under some atmospheric conditions, but from your description it sounds more likely to be a leak. |

That interior shot looks like a worse version of what I have. will go around the roof and have a closer look, and I need to get head lining out soon anyway as I need to fit a work light and rear camera |

Might also be worth looking at the external joint/seam where the ‘vertical’ part of the roof meets the gutter. I found a hairline crack that I ‘treated’ using Captain Tolley’s.
