Applying ACF-50 advice.
Afternoon all,

I have just ordered the liquid spray ACF-50. I know the common areas, such as door hinges, crossmember etc. The one question I have is: can I apply it under the arches as a rust treatment? I was hoping I could almost spray it under the arches to treat some surface rust patches and then wipe any excess off?

Also, can I apply it inside the chassis holes? Or is that more suited to lanoguard? 2008 2.4 110 Utility Station Wagon XS.

Continuing the above post..

What is ideally like is a clear’ish finish - I believe lanoguard offers this type of finish. The Dintriol finish is a bit off putting for me, I don’t like to see everything covered in a black underseal. 2008 2.4 110 Utility Station Wagon XS.

That’s brilliant news! I had no idea. That’s definitely something I’ll be looking at then!

ACF50 is pretty carp at staying on IMO, it lasted all of a week on the underside of the farm truck

Mine had Dinatrol underneath on the main chassis areas - its still visible nearly 3 years later only just starting to come off.
You could use Kurust on the visible areas that dries clear.

ACF is great sprayed up behind cappings, where panels overlap etc - anywhere it will be left to sit with no abrasion from water spray etc.

I use Dinitrol and rate it - others use different makes and prefer those, I've even spoke to someone recently who swears by Waxoil - you pays your money....

I've done all of my trucks in Lanoguard now. It dries nicely after a few days and won't leave you covered in gunge if you're crawling around under the truck. You can jet wash the underside after it's dried and it will stay on.

Takes around 30 minutes to apply on you've jet washed all the crxp off underneath

Isn't messy either while you're applying it and it leaves a strangely pleasing odour!

At £50 a pop it isn't going to break the bank either, I'd recommend reapplying it annually.

Is the Lanoguard something that you can spray under the arches/body under the arches also? Or mainly chassis only? 2008 2.4 110 Utility Station Wagon XS.

For any surface rust on chassis etc you could clean , degrease, dry then use bilt hamber hydrate 80. Then potentially prime with electrox then paint with corroless all in one or bilt hamber epoxy mastic.
For a clear wax you can use bilt hamber dynax uc.

https://bilthamber.com/product-category/anti-corrosion/

Yes you guessed, I like bilt hamber products, and corroless paint Smile

Ps . I’m getting interested in lanoguard as the main chassis wax as well now, cost and ease of application appeals to me.

I used ACF50 on our three Bloodbikes over winter last year, it does protect them very well but attracts all the crap off the road and needs a hot jet wash to remove it in the spring.

Before application make sure you soak the containers in hot water to make it flow Thumbs Up Ride like you stole it!!
If I’m not on a bike it’s because only a 4x4 will do…

Lanoguard: Spray it anywhere, chassis, arches, underbody, electrics...

Well...my first order has arrived...ACF-50. I think I over ordered though... 4 litres 😅 but I guess it’ll last a long time.

Next purchase is Lanoguard I think. Then it’s a job to tackle after winter. 2008 2.4 110 Utility Station Wagon XS.
