Defender 90 300tdi 1997 County in Firenze Red
The time has come! The puma I'm wanting to purchase from a family friend will be available in 3 weeks so I now must list my Defender, it has just passed its MOT and had a full full service, all oils, filters, fluids, flush and glow plugs this was done by LRS of Hull - https://lrshull.com/ outstanding family run LR/defender specialist. It has actually only done 3500 miles since its last MOT as its not my daily. Most recently I've removed the old crap rubber interior , fitted silent coat all around the interior cab and new Exmoor Premium Trim carpet all in the front, fitted new seats and frames, new billet aluminum gear knobs, new 12v charger socket, fitted a cubby box, installed a Cat 1 alarm and central locking, swapped all bulbs for LEDs inside and out, Full Wipac (not cheap chinese ebay rubbish) LED conversion all round, fixed all the door cards (new winders/handle/clips/fir trees) and they have been resprayed black, replaced small items like interior window channels, new bolts/screws/door strikers, interior and exterior badges, added window deflectors, resprayed the snorkel, new indicators, new windscreen washer, new pedal set. 167k on the clock MOT Jan 2023 - only done 3500 miles since last MOT/Service In great condition still in original colour (be wary of the resprayed ones) small ding on front nearside wing. Chassis in VGC - Was undersealed about 3 years ago. Bulkhead in VGC Doors in VGC - new bumper and rear cross member put in. BF Goodrich tyres x 5 Updated Grill and Light Covers - Bearmach Dog Guard Previous Owner Land Rover Specialist previous work they had done; New fuel tank may 2020 LED/Headlight Conversion all round New Calipers/Pads and Discs Nov 2020 New power steering pump and track rods May 2021 New Brake master cylinder July 2021 New Battery/Fuses/Rewire for LEDs Jan 2020 LED Lightbar fitted New Clutch 2018 Working Electric Tow Bar 2" Lift Kit Steering Damper Side Steps Alpine Windows Tinted Rear Windows KBX Gloss black wing mirrors New adjustable heater nozzles - swivel type New Full Door rubber seals on driver and passenger as well as under door seals Rear has been boarded and carpeted with rear heated window Steering Guard and Pedal Guard Snorkel Smaller Steering Wheel Pioneer Single Din Fitted iPhone/Spotify connectivity - Amp and Sub fitted. Original Sunroof - no leaks! Raptor Paint on Roof and Wheels. As you can see from the above list the previous owner did a lot of the heavy mechanical work clutch/calipers etc If I was keep it my next jobs were installing side windows, sawtooth alloys and a storage draw box in the rear. I have a full folder with the all invoices/receipts in previous owner spent over £3.5k on all the above bits in the last 18 months. In addition to the above Ive just had a new starter and fuel lifter fitted this week by LRS Hull as it was lazy starting on cold mornings, this has made a massive difference no crank needed it all fires up 1st time and runs very smooth. Test Drives and Inspections welcome. £13500 Goodbye Old Red , Hello Keswick Puma Last edited by karlp606 on 30th Apr 2022 8:13am. Edited 11 times in total |

Thought I would have had a bit more interest to be fair?
Is the price too strong? |

Hi, firstly great truck, lots of time and effort is evident to see..
But… For £15k the market seeks a totally standard, sub 100k example, something which bizarrely someone can make their own mark on.. ( or keep totally standard!) Basically the mods narrow down your market. If I was looking to sell this I would remove the ‘off roady’ mods ie the light bar, snorkel, side steps- do you have any other wheels you can sell it on? As is it looks too much like any other off road ready Landy, and it’s not.. if you need to sell relatively quickly I’d of thought you should get interest at £13k… Just my two penneth, but I’ve bought and sold a lot of landies over the years.. I don’t think it’s too strong, prices are high at the moment and it looks in great condition. I sold my 04 with 95k on the clock back in mid 2019 for 10k and that was 6 weeks to sell, the chassis was still original black, had just had Ashcroft gearbox rebuild and a 9k old puma transfer box and set of new boosts - I look back now and think I must have been crazy! I’d say hold out for the right price, don’t look back with regrets like I do Last edited by TJH1985 on 27th Jan 2022 8:30pm. Edited 1 time in total |

The joys of Defender ownership is that you can make it your own style, though when it comes to selling you can easily make ‘your own style’ the very reason why people ‘keep scrolling’ (think of a botox victim girl, with fish lips and bad eye make-up on Tinder… she thinks she’s hot, but I know few blokes who would).
In my own opinion, I’d recommend removing the botox headlight surrounds, grill and headlights…sell them separately for a princely sum and fit standard items back on, which will probably leave you quids in. This will appeal to a broader audience, which will look more closely at the rest of the truck, instead of thinking ‘yikes’, scroll. Please don’t take this as a dig, but they were my personal thoughts, then you wondered why the lack of interest. No malice intended. |

I know al lot is original but as a lot of people have said remove bolt on bits if they leave no mark and fit standard and it will appeal to a wider audience. I would think price May be a little high with no galvanised chassis or bulkhead under it.
Good luck with the sale |

Lovely clean looking 90, nice one. Totally agree with Alex, Greeni and others, if you swap the grill, remove the snorkel and the light bar and (tin hat time) turn the tyres so the writing is on the inside it will sell. The irony of the purchaser potentially reversing all those changes isn't lost on me!
Good luck with it, she deserves a good home! |

Thanks for the comments and none are offensive all very helpful thank you - I haven't got many original parts left as a lot of the aftermarkets grills etc came with the car.
Ive just had a new fuel pump and starter fitted this week also - was lazy starting on cold mornings. Fires up so fast now and with no heat needed from the glow plugs - I don't really want to sell it as its driving and running like its just come out the factory at the moment but the Mrs won't let me have 2 defenders I don't think lol... New price £14500 ONO |

It’s a lovely thing. It puts my td5 to shame.
Personally I’d lose the light bar and snorkel, as they just need unbolting, and keep the grill and lights. It would look relatively standard then with minimal expense and work. 2002 td5 90 county hardtop |
