4 month since my last dilemma and my last winging on this forum !! Not bad!!😂😂😂
First I'd like to thanks all for the help last time and yes the vcv was the culprit!!🤬

Now new story: starting got a bit weird in the last week with no but one light on the dashboard (battery) and no clicking or engine start !! It did start after 2 to 3 trial thou!! Today absolutely nothing is happening!! Same thing, no lights and no clicking or cranking!!
Battery is new
Starter motor 3 month old
New vcv
Cam
Maf
Injectors have been replaced
Etc,etc.
Fuses seem to be ok and switches are new
At this stage it seems to be a bit to much for my brain to understand!!! Hence my post!
Any tips ??
Thank you very much
Nick

Cannot help with your starting problem, but I think that loose wire (orange?) is the aerial for the central locking/ key fob.
Hopefully more experienced help will be along soon.

It's quite possibly the ignition switch on the end of the barrel. I swapped mine recently due to exactly the same symptoms and there have been a few other people with similar issues.

You can read about mine here: https://www.defender2.net/forum/post933318.html#933318 Darren

Thank you guys for the replies! Landroveranorak , the connections at the back of the switch looks fine thou!?? If the barrel was faulty would the battery light stay on??

It depends on the nature of the failure, I guess. I think the battery light would stay on as it only goes off when current is drawn by the starter motor, which isn't happening if the switch isn't working. Darren

If nothing except the battery light is on (and your coolant gauge at max hot), then your ECU is off, or the CAN bus is broken.

The above is the default the cluster shows when it has no CAN messages arriving.  1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top

Loose wire is alarm aerial - nothing to be concerned about.  1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top
