Trying to diagnose a brake issue at the minute. After a short drive the rears are binding up and we are thinking it may be the ABS module. Going to plug it in and see if any faults come up but asking here in case anyone has had one fail and what issues if caused?

Had one fail on a Suzuki swift, caused brake binding and strange braking. Dismantled it and looks like it rusted from inside out, guess previous owners had never changed the fluid, as that was like coffee when extracted. Searching for my first Defender...and started just as Covid hit, so talk about timing.
5 months after starting the search I found it, and here is the details |

Need to check over a few things before I commit to replacing as it’s an expensive part. Not had any issues for the past 12 months so something has definitely failed somewhere. Andy

Maybe a crushed pipe? I very much doubt your car has not had the fluid changed often.
Some abs units on the e46 bmw I know can be taken apart as the computes on them fail and you can swap the bodies. Maybe another option if it’s defiantly the module that’s gone. I have had a steering angle error for a while now which I know upsets the ABS but we had it re calibrated today and then went for a pretty lively drive and no sign of the issue. Not sure if that was the cause so will have to wait and see. They did bind up on the way over to the guy with the LR software and we just let the pressure off at the master cyclinder so maybe something has corrected itself. Andy

Checked all the pads etc. The entire front and rear brakes were changed during the engine swap and are all still like new. With the steering angle out the ABS module puts a TC error light up after 30mph. We tested the ABS out this evening on a damp back road and all working as normal with no warning lights now after the re calibration. Could well just be luck that they haven't bound up since but at least it rules this out if it does happen again. Andy

Nightmare. What about the Mongoose IDS SDD - system driven diagnostic - cable (clones sold on a famous auction site) older versions of the software worked without the internet link? Someone on here may have one? Never tried one but it may be able to run functional tests?
