2004 Defender 90 Td5 CSW Santorini Black

HELP! Oil Filter Housing Haemorrhage

HELP!

Chaps, my Td5’s oil filter housing gasket had a leak. I’ve pulled it all apart, replaced the gasket, and put it back together. It then started to haemorrhage oil from the gasket. So, I did it all again and used another gasket. Both were genuine LR. Both leaked from the same place.

It’s such a bad leak the vehicle is essentially immobilised.

Have a look at the photos for the source.

Where am I going wrong here?

Are the gaskets bad? Is there damage to the housing? Am I missing something out?

All and any suggestions would be very gladly received!

2007 Defender 90 Puma 2.4 XS CSW Santorini Black

The housing for the oil filter has a pressed steel gasket.Did you change that?

Yes I did, Marc.

Used a genuine LVH100230, which failed. I then tried another genuine one, which also failed in the same spot. Charlie

Mmmmm,is the engine pressurizing somehow?
Or,the oil level too high?

Oil level is fine. Cold idle pressure was 3.5bar when I started it up earlier.
