2006 Defender 110 Td5 USW Zermatt Silver
Only place that had stock was mud stuff and not the best price. But a stolen Defender less than 7 miles away from me meant cost wasn’t the priority.

It’s not an excellent design, and clearly I’m not the only one struggling with it. It needs to lock as one part when the lock barrel is out, and then spin as two parts when barrel in and in locked position. I don’t understand this poke your finger between the parts bits as I have man hands, and they can’t fit in the tiny gap. At this rate I will try the shove something between the two bits or even a glop of silicone between the two bits so to weakly join the two bits.

You don't have to poke anything in a tiny gap. Just put your finger on one of the holes and use that as a guide to line up with the pins. Darren

Don't over think it, just put a finger over a hole to help your brain line it up with the pin you are aiming for.

All you people who keep saying "Just poke your finger in between.......easy" etc are failing to understand that not all men have delicate ladies fingers slim enough to do so, so it's pointless to keep repeating it as if there is something wrong with us failures and we must be mutants. A good number of us have Land Rover fingers and they just do not do it.

It's obviously a problem that Optimill are aware of else they wouldn't have given me their solution that I posted earlier. At the time we discussed my idea of some sort of protruding tab attached to the inner part with which to rotate it. I wouldn't be surprised to see a Mk2 version at some point.

If it's giving you problems, you could make a finger-size hole through the outer skirt so you can hold the inner part while locating it on the pegs.

I think we are already on the Mk2 version, didn't they change the lock from the original spec? Defender 90XS SW

Never been described as having ladies fingers before!
Not quite the reaction I’d expected when trying to help.
Clearly some misunderstanding though, you don’t need to put a tiny finger in the hole, you just feel where it is.
Hope you find a solution that works for you.

Yes, the lock was changed to improve resistance to drilling and impressioning attacks. Only the lock itself was changed.

small piece of tape on the outer cover - line the top hole with the tape and slip over the the top peg holding the inner - takes seconds
