Oil pump bolt
Evening chaps

I’m about to replace the famous TD5 oil pump bolt ( the one that works loose and destroys engines )
I’ve read many many threads on the web, quite a lot of them say that the new bolt supplied by land rover with the yellow “loctite” on doesn’t work, this is what they have been told by mechanics that have done the job, my question is, what experience have you guys had, or have heard about ? and which route should I take? Replace the existing bolt with the LR issued one (yellow gunk on) or remove old one, clean up (and female thread) and smother in loctite 243 and put back, I’m planning on doing the job tomorrow, weather permitting.
Thanks in advance, and merry Christmas 🎅🏼

After five years I have had no problem with the thread lock on the replacement pump bolt and yes I did check. Rolling Eyes

Buy a new bolt and go with that. Never heard of a problem with the new LR thread locked bolts...

Thanks for the tip, I just put the new one in, the old one was still tight, it looked like it had maybe one or two threads of loctite on but at least now I can rest easy, just praying the sump gasket doesn’t leak. Thumbs Up Optimists say the glass is half full..
