Webasto in Puma
Hi Guys,

I've just taken delivery of my fantastic new XS utility and am interested in fitting a webasto heater to it as I've already got on sitting in the garage.

Anyone found a good mounting solution? I'm a bit shocked at how little space there is under the bonnet!

fantastic - I'd love to see how you've done it.

I know there have been a few posts, but mainly seem to be from LHD users!

Cobs - I read your extensive installation write-up.
Thanks for sharing, and taking the effort to do it.

I understand it took a little while for the unit to power up, caused by lack of diesel flow. I would suggest to others that you prior to the final connecting of the fuel pipe to the heater, that you feed the pump some power and let i work until the diesel comes out of the pipe, this would prevent air getting into the webasto unit on first start up. Or alternative use a syringe to fill the pipe with diesel prior to final connection.

Good idea - you could just connect the wiring loom up before finally connecting the fuel pipe - it needs some form of 'pulsed' supply (apologies to the electriccal experts who'll no doubt supply the proper term) to operate the pump which is controlled by the Thermo Top's circuit board. There was someone on the forum a while ago who'd built some bit of electroic equipment to do the same thing. When I've finished spud peeling duties I'll see if I can find the thread.
