I'm just sat here looking at your picture of the fitted grill with my wife next to me, and she looked at the photo and said " why has he fixed two horse shoes to his bumper". . I like the grill, looks well made.

With the other thread ongoing about dissimilar metals I was wondering if your comment was a joke! The intercooler grille is riveted onto the plastic radiator grille assembly. As far as I'm aware plastic and steel together won't rot! You can use stainless rivets or aluminium and as long as the appropriate 'wet assembly' process is used when riveting with aluminium rivets there won't be a problem! Thanks for the comments! Sorry K9F, just thought the whole radiator grill was aluminum. My mistake hadn't looked properly! See what you mean with the other thread going! No juke though! 2008 110 XS CSW Stornoway Grey

I'll get a costing tomorrow for seven to be made, I know it looks likely that XSPete's SVX type grille isn't compatable but I have included him in the count, so there may be one going spare. I'll get back with a price and 'pm' all concerned to confirm! If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!

I've had a closer look at the SVX grille now and there are definitely some fundamental differences.
The grille is a criss-cross black powder-coated mesh part which is fixed via plastic clip features to the back of the front panel. The clip features appear to be moulded as part of the front panel, and there are no holes and no rivets as with the standard part with fits from the front. So, unfortunately, I think it's a 'no' for me, and for other SVX owners unless unless they are prepared to buy one and try and do some fettling to make it fit (assuming it can be done). Cheers though K9F, you've done a good job there. Pete |

Price will be 40 per unit plus postage.....Due to the fact there are 8 orders he is going to investigate the possibility of having them laser cut out of a single sheet of 3mm stainless.
If not cost effective what you see above with the TIG welding will be what you get. Hope this meets with everyone's approval! If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!! Treat every day as if it is your last....one day you will be right!! |
