Believe 115 degrees is normal.
Or you can DIY it https://youtu.be/EpG9P6auilk |

Cheers. So the only way is to replace the cog in the wiper motor? 1999 Defender TD5 110

Very useful - thanks. I think I need more like 100-110 degree sweep.
If 115 is standard then I wonder why my wiper likes to clean the windscreen seal ? 1999 Defender TD5 110 Regards John M0VAZ Econet Station 48 no clock |

How much play do you have in the wiper arm? Usually when Defender wipers start hitting the windscreen seal it is that there is play in the wiper wheel box or in the spindle. It is worth checking that the wiper nut has not come loose as well.

And I think I was wrong. I think that 110 degrees is normal, although mine do not seem to go past 90 degrees.
When I next have a look in the dash I will check what cog is in there. |

I have recently done new splined adapters and new wiper arms. There is a little bit of play but not what I would call excessive.
Wiper nut ? just splined adapters and a grub screw on my wiper arms. 1999 Defender TD5 110 Regards John M0VAZ Econet Station 48 no clock |

Well just for completeness sake
Pre 2002 - 1A 622423 VIN - 517646 - 110 degree sweep Post 2002 - 2A 622424 - DLW000020 - 140 degree sweep Which is interesting because My 2003 definitely does not sweep 140 degrees ![]() Land Rovers, nothing is ever straight forward... ![]() |
