You’re the first to spot that since I bought it!
‘98 50th 300 Tdi hard top in rioja red. Had been on the look out for one for ages and stupidly bought blind during lockdown - it was a total rot box….hence the rebuild as a soft top. Oddly two have come up in cobar blue since, in super shape but very tricked out so not for me. Now looking for another hardtop in red to match (but hopefully all original). Back in the day i was offered the choice of a 50th HT in woodcote green or an early Td5 in cobar - both new and unregistered. I went with the Td5 and it was a complete lemon and Wished i had gone 300tdi. Woodcote was my favourite colour of the HT 50th editions

Does it still have the aluminium gear knobs and aluminium badge on the rear?

Ali badge still present:
Click image to enlarge As are the ali gear and transfer knobs and window winders. The ali chequer plate to the wing tops, cills and rear quarters and chrome A bar are also original factory and part of the 50th pack (the spots are original LR but not part of the 50th pack, I think?). The galv cappings were done during the rebuild. I’ll put together some more before and after photos….. I think the A-bar was dealer fit. Only the Japanese 50th came with it from factory.
Looking good though |
