Hi to all!
Does anybody know if the Grenadier will go on sale also in commercial N1 version WITHOUT the grid? The new Defender 110 is sold also in that configuration (200hp version), and it is very useful having the full internal lenght of the vehicle free for loading long stuff. The Grenadier should have a little bit more than 1ton of payload for that configuration (kW/payload <180) |

Did you look at the two-seater commercial? |

By grid, I assume you are referring to the mesh bulkhead ~ it looks to be a simple bolt in, bolt out fixture:
Click image to enlarge Maybe an improvement would be to have a "cat flap" type arrangement to allow for longer items; or just put them on the roof? |

Yes I mean the mesh.
The point is that in Europe unless the vehicle has a ratio power/payload inferior to 180, it cannot be considered a fiscal commercial without the mesh. For example the Defender is sold also commercial without the mesh, but it has 150kw and 900kg (0.9tons) payload. The grenadier has 180kw so unless it has at least 1 ton payload, it cannot be a commercial fiscal one without the mesh |

Right - so a cat flap or put long items on the roof, where they are probably safer away?

Yes but the mesh is always uncomfortable if you use the car both for work and freetime, hope they can offer the commercial N1 version without

You've lost me, I thought you needed the mesh for it to class as a commercial?

I think the point is that it doesn't need the mesh if it has a 1 tonne payload. Clearly different rules to the ones that we're used to.
The commercial version may well have a 1 tonne payload but we haven't seen that sort of detail yet, as far as I can tell. I think with a tonne payload behind me, I'd be wanting more than the mesh, not less.

The “mesh” comes out on quick release fittings, and has a couple of mounting points if you do want to use it. |

For anyone interested, a Grenadier will be shown in Manchester at the convention centre (formerly known as GMEX) as part of the Late Brake Show Tour event this Saturday. It's not a free event and no indication of how close you'll be able to get.
I'm going, I've yet to see one and I'm a fan of the Late Brake Show YouTube channel anyway. It's all organised by Johnny Smith of 5 Gear. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS |
