Quite like the wide stance on a Def. Not silly wide like beaded wheels, just a little bit. I’m currently running 265/65s on the Bowlers, 18”, what’s the widest I can pop on under ‘normal’ usage? Can I go to 275? Monsieur Le Grenadier

How wide are your wheels? That's the deciding factor for tyre widths. Darren

The bowlers are 8 inch wide so will take a 275 or 285.
I used to run 305s on my 16x8 mach 5s with no problem. They are et15 however so the wider sizes will increase the chances of rubbing on full lock so might need some adjustment  |

Grenadier, I think I would stick with the 265’s because of your possible snowy location, and to limit the chance of the tyres rubbing on the suspension. Tyre rubbing would probably p*** you right off.

Thank you all. In answer to various points, don’t want to go super large, because of issues as mentioned above (rubbing, turning circle etc) so 275 likely enough. With regard to snow, completely understand your thinking Daz, indeed we run thinner tyres on Mrs Grenadier’s TT, but at only 850m alt, and really only ever working/travelling in winter months to a max of 1500m on main (therefore usually cleared) roads, rarely do we have snow where thin tyres would be an advantage. It’s either permanent hard packed, or it’s cleared. In between when it’s falling and the tyres usually do the job.
Think I’ll take a punt on 275. As for which brand, currently running KO2s but thinking of swapping to Pirelli ATR+. Better manners for the non winter months, full winter tyres for when it’s colder. Don’t go off road often enough to warrant anything really gnarly as most off roading I do is dry gravel, dusty and rocky alpine tracks. No mud. No sand. Having said that, do still like the look of them. Tyre fitter is going to order one of each in so that I can compare when mounted.  Monsieur Le Grenadier
