Whilst toying with the idea (or madness?) of buying a FFRR, my searching turned up this :

The few converted at the time were never pretty with the roof up, IIRC.
But quite nice down, in the right weather - seem to remember the Bond girl driving one in one of Roger Moores, & it looked great! |

This is Roger Taylor's old one, seen at Land Rover Legends in 2019:

More of an open top than convertible: Click image to enlarge Darren 110 USW BUILD THREAD - EXPEDITION TRAILER - 200tdi 90 BUILD THREAD - SANKEY TRAILER - IG@landroveranorak "You came in that thing? Just think how many JLR could have sold if they continued the open top trend and strengthen the floor to take a 50 cal……..Middle Easten Spec only…..

And plenty of fuel in the Middle East as well to keep up with the insatiable appetite that those old 3.5 carburettor V8s had a liking for.
I swear you could see the fuel gauge needle dropping on a motorway run, especially when towing. |

lohr, I had a 1985 V8 110 CSW.
Yes, you could see the fuel gauge moving down before your eyes. For fun I would switch it over to the second tank and watch the needle fly up to full……….before moving down again.. That was in 1994 when fuel was cheep ( or lots cheaper than today) Did make a nice noise though….. |

A friend had a Stage 1 V8 Station Wagon with twin tanks and that was also a thirsty beast!!!
It made a nice noise as well and went very well once we removed the restrictor baffles from the carbs and changed the mixture settings. Stopping it in a hurry was another matter altogether though |

One of my oldest chums has an 1986 110 3.5, it did the same, i remember watching the gauge drop when fuel was 150 a litre a few years ago and Tom wondering if he needed to call opec to negotiate his own oil price… |

I had a de-restricted Stage 1 V8. On a cold morning with the choke out, I swear you could feel the fuel draining from the tank Darren

driving my father in laws Morgan +8 race car with a JE Developments race motor to silverstone when he had the other one on the trailer made my glad i wasn’t the one paying the fuel bill.
Worst accurate mpg I’ve ever seen was in my Cooper S, i think i got it down to 3 mpg when utterly flat out on an airfield |
