2016 Defender 90 Puma 2.2 HT Corris Grey

USA state de-registration

Thin end of the wedge??
Not sure why the Mitsubishi Delicia in particular is being targeted but will this start to affect other import cars??

This was featured in a TFL video.

The vehicles targeted are what are called Japanese K cars. Built for the home market and made small to work with the smaller roads and city parking.

The excuse given is that they do not suit US roads nor other traffic in terms of road safety as they were never tested for such in the first place. Think a Range Rover hitting a Smart car here in the UK.

The Delica is a strange one as it is really a rebodied Shogun / Pajero and as such dimensionally it is a full size vehicle not a clown car.

To my mind as each state is a law unto itself and this is a good excuse to get older none up to date emission controlled cars off the road. California has recently ruled that petrol lawn mowers cannot be used, side by sides are next in the firing line.

All owners of K cars and Delica were told to stop using them with immediate effect and hand their number plates in.

What does this mean for imported Defenders, don't know, but would not be surprised in this increasing political point scoring world that they to will be banned, even if they have been stripped down and rebuilt to look like a Puma with an LS motor.

What it could mean for us in the UK is that we will be able to park our vehicles knowing that some git wont steal our body panels and send them abroad.

Lets face it, London and a number of other cities in the UK are effectively doing the same to owners except they are making money out of it as another tax.
