If we are referring to my 5.9L lump, then yes, the irony slapped square in the face also
To be honest it'll probably be the same with the diesel but the test vehicle on the tour is a petrol with a raised air intake. The intake points backwards on the passenger side (drivers in UK) and if you have the window down you get to listen to the wooosh when you accelerate. Me being an immature child, if I were driving one I'd just be be accelerating and decelerating all the way down the road - cause induction noises WOOOooosh WOOoosh Wooosh wooosh woosh wosh... Ill most likely get the Diesel, the extra 100nm of torque is welcomed over the petrol version. I know their are big plans to get rid of diesel just as their was to get us using it many years ago but I don't think the supply of it at the pumps will slow down for many many years yet as their are simple to many cars and trucks on the road that need it.
That said who knows what the future will bring. |

I just wonder if there will be a growing gap between petrol and diesel such that for private / non commercial vehicle use diesel becomes prohibitively expensive. Will we end up with red diesel for commercial use at a sensible price? Who knows?!

I share your disposition - it’s amazing how many gears I can find on my motorbike in a 3-kilometre, 50 KPH stretch. It brings me great joy to hear the triumph triple whistle as I work up through the revs, then back down again! |

Would love to snag the Diesel, especially if the cost increment is nominal.
Unfortunately, it doesn't look like we'll have the option in the states... I'm carrying my gasser Grenadier reservation for now. However, there's a good chance I may jump on the Wrangler Diesel (3.0L) if the eventual test-drive underwhelms in the power/torque department. |
