Many thanks to Danielle for arranging the renewal for my Defender at the same premium as last year (£265). I'm hoping for some savings on the Home and 101 insurance once their renewal dates approach...

Wish I could have stayed but....
Unfortunately my 22 renewal experience wasn't nearly as good as last year. I had multiple telephone calls from A-Plan asking me to call back re my renewal. The call I returned put me through to the Thatcham office where rep seemed to not know much about my policy and why the premium had increased significantly despite no claims or mods. Quite unnerving and couldn't find anything relating to a 90 Van, so I stated I was going elsewhere (went to NFU). Got yet another call from a A-Plan wanting to discuss my renewal seemingly unaware of the previous conversations. Transpires I was put through to the wrong floor in Thatcham - too late I paid NFU!! I am still waiting for my statement of NCD and claims history from A-Plan though. Now facing loss of NCD on my NFU premium because A-Plan have not issued this statement. Can't say I'm a happy chappy especially as NFU price with NCD was a bit more than the A-Plan renewal Mad

If anyone at A-Plan reads this - please get that NCD statement to me ASAP so I can at least reconsider you for 23. Shouldn't be hard to find - renewal date was 22/9/21, your ref ending AN010.

I can only apologise that you were transferred to the wrong branch, there are 2 offices in Thatcham, us being the main office and the camper van branch which is upstairs. They should have seen which branch you were with when accessing your file.

In regards to the NCD this is issued in the form of the renewal statement which is within the renewal invitation documents, but I have emailed the renewals team to send this again for you.

I'm sorry for the experience you've had and trust that had you been transferred correctly it would have been a very different journey for you.

Hi Carlie, thanks for replying. Unfortunately NFU do not accept renewal statements as proof of claims and NCD (fair point as I could technically have a claim between renewal letter and insurance expiry). They have stated: "We can confirm receipt of your email (I forwarded your renewal notice). It also cannot be a renewal notice

We need a Proof of NCD letter on letter headed paper from your previous insurer with the following:

Name the Policy was held under
Date of cancellation
Vehicle Registration Number
NCD years
Claims History"

On expiry of any vehicle insurance I would normally get such proof sent automatically to me but concerned A-Plan don't do this??

Most insurers accept the renewal notice so generally the additional letter request isn't needed, but if they need it that's no problem as we can request one from your previous insurer.

The best thing to do would be to call in, as some insurers allow us to do this on their behalf with you on the phone so it can be quicker than waiting for them to send one through themselves.

01635 874646 is the direct number you need for Thatcham and any of out team can do this for you.

Just renewed for another year.
Due to the reduced annual mileage I'm doing, A-Plan were able to give my premium a haircut.

Just to clarify, what is the NCD concern?
Very Happy we issue NCD in the form of renewal statements which is a standard practice amongst a huge majority of insurers. If that's not acceptable for an insurer then we can request a proof specific letter from the insurers.
