It was unusual even at the time for a book to be "bound" with what appears to be duct tape!

Bit of a thread resurrection.

I've just bought a copy of this on Ebay amongst a bundle of other books, little realising it was possibly an early edition. Its dated 1982 and numbered 663, but isn't complete with any additional cover/box.

Blackwolf where is your copy signed? At first glance I cant see that this is a signed copy. 2007 - Stornoway Grey 90 XS SW - Gone
2002 - Black Discovery II - Gone
2014 - Montalcino Red 110 XS SW

Mine, numbered 273, is signed on the page opposite the Contents Page (the page isn't numbered but it is page 4) just underneath the stamped number of the copy.

No idea if Tony signed others elsewhere......

To resurrect an old thread, I decided to have my copy of The Early Years looked at by a retired book binder who lives quite close. He was pretty appalled by the way it was originally bound commenting that as soon as you start to try to lay the open book flat the binding will start to fail. Nonetheless given the value of the book (he looked it up) he re bound it in the same way as original with the warning about not trying to flatten the pages when the book is open. It now looks just like when it was new, he even used the original crappy tape to bind it therefore keeping the originality.
My son is into Land Rovers but I have put a note with the book about not donating it to a charity shop when it eventually becomes his. Whistle
