Puma 2.4 turbo reading
Hello,
My defender 110 seems to lose most of its torque above 3,000rpm and doesn’t seem to pull hard at all. Although I can reach speed of 80/85mph on flat roads, it struggles to get there and would barely be able to maintain a speed of 75moh on a slight uphill slope.
I am wondering whether the turbo is operating properly. Hence I had a nanocom plugged into the ECU and went for a drive on the motorway. The turbo reading would max out at 210 when under full load. I have no idea whether that’s good / normal or not?

Anywhere between 200kpa - 220kpa is normal. Atmospheric pressure is typically 100kpa so the delta is around 120kpa = 1.2 bar of boost.

Likely to be a fuel issue. Similar symptoms on mine recently turned out to be bad injectors. See here https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic53240-198.html > 110 XS Double Cab

Thanks for your input… how would I test whether the injectors are defective?
I just spent £300 w my local Indy to have them all removed, cleaned out properly, replace the seals as 3 were busted (and leaked quite badly) and the valve on the fuel rail that was weeping ever so slightly.

The leak stopped and there doesn’t seem to be any error messages on the ECU

They won't register an error if there's a mechanical fault like blocked jet or damaged needle/seat

There's no way to tell other than removing them to have tested. I was quoted between £10 - £30 per injector to test/assess and then repair costs on top depending on what damage was found so opted for replacement ones at £72 each > 110 XS Double Cab

Makes sense.

I am currently working my way around a power issue as discussed on this post

https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic80357.html

I am likely to have to repair the turbo to solve that issue. If that hasn't fixed the boost problem I will then get the injectors replaced as well.

Is that a difficult job to do on your own?

Thanks
