United Kingdom 2015 Defender 90 Puma 2.2 XS CSW Corris Grey
Insurance values
Looking online recently I found several Heritage’s up for sale at eye-watering prices, and it got me thinking. It’s true they may never exchange hands for those sums but I’m now engaging my insurers to secure a guaranteed value. Is this what you good people have done, and if so, what science did you employ to arrive at a value?

Australia 2015 Defender 90 Puma 2.2 Heritage Edition SW Grasmere Green
In Australia we have a great insurance company for vehicles called Shannon’s. They have kept my Heritage value at $100k+ for the past 2 years, and 2 vehicles which were advertised over East were well above that value at $150k and $179k. You never know if they made those prices, but they weren’t on Carsales for very long. Even my old 2 door RRC is now insured for more than the Heritage, as Shannon’s agreed that the $8000 I had it insured for was a bit light! I will be quoting the 2 sales over East when I renegotiate my Heritage insurance in January. 1955 Series 1 107" Pick up.
1977 RRC Suffix 'D'.
2000 Defender 110 TD5 Xtreme.
2015 Defender Heritage 90.

There is no science to it Graham. The valuers do pretty much what you do - look at the vehicles for sale (and what prices they are actually fetching) and make a guess from there.

You are probably better off choosing a specialist, such as Footman James or Adrian Flux, rather than a bog standard car insurer. Just fill out the forms, send the pictures and suggest the figure you are looking for. They will then come back with their valuation. Provided you are not outrageously optimistic, you should get close to what you are looking for.

As an example, my 05 Td5 in excellent condition both mechanically and cosmetically is valued at £24k with Adrian Flux. It is a CSW, converted from an original hard top, with 88k miles.

Good luck
