I purchased my springs from Alive to put with my Foxes.

Same as Suli, eibach springs from alive. I went with standard heigh comfort springs but it obviously depends whether you are looking for comfort or speed.

Have you got any photos of the stnadard height springs on your 90, Colin?
I saw Alive say once that they reduce the natural rake of the defender by some amount but can't remember by how much. Also not sure if it was for their standard height or their lowered versions. 4.0 V8 Defender 90 My Instagram |

See below. I know the water one isn’t great, but it shows the height to the wheel arches pretty well.

Considering these springs, shocks and ARB for my 110 Utility.... I've read loads of the threads on here and yet still cannot decide on standard height or the road spec. Any downside to going for the lower ones at all?

depends what you are after ride wise really, what did the guy selling the Fox shocks advise? shocks and springs should be planed as a package working together, am sure they will have some advice for your needs to suit what ever shocks you had. Cheers

Thanks but I am thinking of the package as I said. I'm asking on here to see what folk that have had them think about it all for a wider view. If it's just the view of the dealer I need I guess I needn't have posted.... Thanks again.

Scotty: in this case, a call to alive really would help. Their customer service is superb and they wouldn’t recommend something if it wasn’t right. Give them a call, they really are very helpful.

Yes I've spoken with Alive as I was there yesterday, what I'm asking is for some user input. Going lower has been recommended and it's probably what I'll do but just wanted to know from those that have done it if they've seen any downside.
Not quite sure why my "What do you reckon?" question is so much different to everyone elses that appear on the forum..... |

Scotty38, apologies my answer has obviously rattled you.
The question from DeeEss appeared to ask what springs were suggested to go with the shocks he had rather than what were peoples experience of certain springs. i was responding to his question. Cheers James 110 2012 XS Utility 130 2011 M57 bespoke Camper 90 2010 Hardtop 90 M57 1988 Hardtop |

The downside is pretty simple: less ground clearance and less articulation. How much off roading do your do? If you don’t do any then there aren’t many downsides to lowering springs, you might even get better handling and fuel economy.
All I can categorically advise you on in how standard height springs work in a 90, hence advising you speak to Alive. You didn’t say you had previously spoken to them, which is why I suggested you do. |

I decided to fit standard Alive springs rather than lowered as there was some noise about issues with propshaft alignment, more in the link below,
