Diesel leak by fuel tank.
Just wondering if there are any typical issues with a 2.2tdci 110 2014 leaking diesel around the fuel tank. Not fast, just a few drips an hour.

I noticed an oily mark on my drive a little earlier and on inspection, the bottom of the fuel tank has a few drips of diesel on it which has dissolved some of the under seal.

As it was getting dark I could only make out that the leak seems to be coming from the drivers side higher up on the tank.

Was filled up full yesterday and I’ve only done about 20 miles so it’s still pretty full. Any ideas welcome if there’s some usual issues. Going to have to get underneath tomorrow.

Suspect an issue with the filler hose or breather hose - look under the OSR wheel arch around the filler area as a starter for 10. Rgds.

Very likely breather hose perished - I had exactly the same issue with my 2014 2.2tdci 90. Was only an issue for a day or two after fuelling up until the fuel level was down enough.

I’ve just read the monster fuel breather pipe thread in the Tdci section. A likely culprit.

Whenever I fill up I put my ear to the filler and listen . You can just hear the whoosh of air as the tank is full and pushes air up the filler. At this point you stop and all is well. You have a full tank and no diesel in the filler or breather pipe and no leaks.
Obviously better to fix, and the new style raised breather fitted, which on a 110 is easier than a 90. But a solution that works until you have the time to rectify the fault.

Good advice. I’ve always been in the habit of brimming cars.

Mine had this issue but the breather was OK, it was the vent pipe. It is in a crap location and largely inadequate. Check it out before you start replacing the breather itself as it “should” be a simpler repair.

Had a good look this morning. The leak seems to have stopped. Couldn’t see any cracking at the top of the filler of vent pipes due to being covered in under seal.

Going to monitor for a bit and not brim the tank.

At least I now have an idea on what could be the problem should it persist. Must say I have everything crossed as access is crap should I need to intervene with the pipes.

Cheers all.

I just tanked up my 2012 90 and have had the same issue. Front right hand side of the tank. I brimmed the tank, and then heard the fuel peeing out. Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes
