I posted the same question to another forum 6 months ago during heavy rain. The old boys told me to get used to it as Fenders leak like sivs.
Can alternatively have a crack at rerouting the front gutter edge away from door trim towards windscreen with a weld or bolt on adjustment but I didnt think it was worth the trouble. |

Mine suffered from this and I tracked it down to the joint between the heater box and the bulkhead. Water runs off the gutter across the rear of the bonnet, onto the wing and then into the engine bay directly above that joint. I did have a fender seal fitted and when the problem first appeared I realised that it had fallen off. I've since re-attached it with a bead of Sikaflex and all is good so far!
Here's the details of the seal, albeit being shown fitted to the drivers side. It's the same part for both sides: https://www.defender2.net/forum/post840283.html#840283 The proper solution would be to remove and refit the heater box with a better seal but that's quite a significant task. For me, after every rainfall i would get a leak in my passenger footwell. My windscreen seal was very cracked so when getting other work done to my defender i got it replaced. Since replacing the seal my defender doesnt resemble a swimming pool after rainfall!

This is what they look like when the dash is removed after the screen seal has failed and not sorted.
This 08 Puma looked perfect until dash and soundproofing removed. Click image to enlarge |

I replaced a ripped / tatty watershedder behind the door card. Water was sitting on a 'ledge' of foam and trickling down the outside of it rather than being directed out of the bottom of the door.
