Went for my first paddle last night, did two hours at a sailsport place...Loved it, can't wait get out on the sea or on a trip Cool Cool

And you can cover some distance in two hours, I did 6.5 miles and mostly let the tide and wind take me in one direction (just sat in the Kayak drifting up the estuary looking at the wildlife, boats etc and paddled back properly against the wind and tide on my return - it was very quiet no one around Very Happy ). I think you could easily do 6mph in my hefty barge even Laughing

Going to take a rod out with me next time, the fish were jumping around all over the place & there are BASS Twisted Evil

Well it was just as much work as the Series and just as wet Sad Laughing Must put the blimmen door seals on some time, not that they help much Rolling Eyes Have to say i'm getting pretty tired of driving the Series everyday now I felt the comfort and ease of the TDCi, whistle: Keeps my baby out of the rain and the mileage low though Wink

The thing that amused me Chris was that it was a tiddler and it only pulled him for a half mile. Folks have been catching larger species from kayaks for years and have been towed further without it making the news. If he thought that was fun.......wait till he hooks a 300lb, 8ft Porbeagle shark (which looks like a baby Great White.) Then after a mile or two it realizes it has something attached to it and swims back to you to have a wee look. A 8ft plus shark swimming past whilst eye balling you in a kayak about 6 inches from the water is a little scary the first couple of times it happens Shocked Thumbs Up

Shocked That's it I'm selling the kayak Whistle I wet me knickers when I was snorkling in Cornwall as a kid and saw a basking shark Shocked Doesn't help knowing they are harmless, a 30' monster is a 30' monster when your 12....teeth or no teeth...

Sold all my kayaks after a swim down the river inn in austria, grade 5, nearly drowned on a big corner of grief on the Tosens section, the first picture below shows it.

Done loads of Kayaking all over the UK and Europe, really miss is, but I lost my bottle!

Plockton a couple of weeks ago...


A superb paddle with the Mrs. Lots of seals and an Otter to watch.

Plockton is a great launch spot. Sheltered, 2 slips, one has a hose at the top (and parking and toilets) so you can wash off the salt after. Lots of wildlife. Defender "Puma" 2.4 110 County Utility (possibly the last of the 2.4's)
