Yes, we know all of the engines history.
It was supplied new to Saffron Walden Engineering in 1939, they installed it into Barnards mill in Newport, it spent its working life driving the grannery equipment. It was used until the mid 1960's. My Father, Grandfather and uncle removed the engine from the mill in 1977 when the mill was converted into flats, it was nearly scrapped. I live in Saffron Walden and Newport is about 4 miles away! It was rallied in the 80's on the back of a lorry but was put into storage around 1984, the lorry was scrapped. Love the engine and the trailer mount.. Just got one the same last week and not too far away. Would be great to have a chat about your experiences with it and to take a look at it.

Not much to report really.
It’s done 60k now with a few little hiccups along the way but overall a nice machine. I have not had to use the front tow eyes yet and have pulled some heavy trailers on and off some muddy fields. Kev |
