I dropped the 90 off the ramps Sunday morning and was a little bit shocked what came running out the chassis.
Click image to enlarge They do say if it don't let oil out then it isn't a proper Land Rover. I have ordered some more Dinitrol ML to treat the doors and bulkhead. NEXT JOB! I got on with fitting some MUD side panels. Click image to enlarge The first job was fitting the nets to the panels, just a question of drilling some holes and some self tapping screws. Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge I then had to cut some slots out to go over the bulkhead. Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Next job was to stick some foam panels to the hard top sides, the panels are part of the kit, the two rear panels fit fine but the front ones needed trimming. Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge I then put the panels in the 90, they are a little fiddly getting them over the bulkhead and getting them up under the headlining, I put some masking tape on the bulkhead to help stop scratches. I had to have them out a couple of times for filling and trimming. Click image to enlarge Once it's all in place you need to drill some 6mm holes to hold them in place, little bit worrying drilling holes in a new truck, most places you can get a piece of wood behind where you are drilling, just in case you go to far! I found my air angle drill helped to drill the bottom fixing holes. Click image to enlarge Here they are fully fitted. Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge They are easy to fit and look like they should be there, only thing I didn't like was having to cut the holes for the bulkhead. At £265 with the nets and delivery they are not cheap but hopefully they will protect the sides from damage. Very nice job with the Dinitrol, at least the drive wont rust..
The Mud panels look great too, I'd fit them in mine but have a roll cage with rear struts that block the side panels. I have ply lined mine but wish it looked as "factory" as those Mud panels. cheers simon |

My other hobby is restoring and showing old stationary engines.
We have just got back from a local fete, it was good to see how well the new 90 would tow, I'm not disappointed, defiantly got more grunt than the tdi! Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge The engine is a Ruston Hornsby 5xhr single cylinder open crank diesel, 22-25hp. Made in 1939, the trailer and engine weigh just under 3500kg. Kev Admin note: this post has had its images recovered from a money grabbing photo hosting site and reinstated |

Where did you get the spray gun from? Looking for one that is smaller than the screw onto can ones that come from dinitrol for better access. Can you see where you're spraying it easily (i.e. is it a different shade of black to the underside?) The wax gun is a Sealey one.
http://www.sealey.co.uk/PLPageBuilder.asp?...uctid=7922 It was fine for spraying the ML cavity wax but I did need to thin the 4941 to spray out the attachments. Kev |

when you fitted the load liner did you have to cut out the holes for the lash down points or did you take them out and the fit the liner and then reit them

I unbolted the latching eyes, two person job.
Once the liner was stuck in I drilled some holes in the liner from the outside in to refit the eyes. I also had to trim a little bit off the rear of the liner where the speakers are. I unscrewed the galvanised plate at the rear of the tub to get the liner underneath. It all helps to keep the liner in place! Kev |

Just out of interest how is your n/s front wing fitted, mine dose not sit flush with the curve of the bulkhead, took it back to the dealer but they said it ok, they had two other Corris Grey 90's there and the wings where fitted the same! Kev |

Here is a picture of what I mean.
Click image to enlarge I might just slacken off the bolts and sort it out myself, I dont think im gonna get anywhere with the dealer. Or am I just being fussy, I know its a land rover but im sure it should line up a little better! greenoval25....that engine looks quite "substantial".
Do you have any idea of its history, what it was used for, how long etc. Here in Aus, we had a "multitude" of those sorts of engines...used for all sorts of things...power generation, powering shearing sheds, irrigation pumps etc. Restoration of these engines is VERY popular.....many of the Country Agricultural shows display them......I love 'em...all beautifully made with their brass fitttings, I like the way they just "potter" along...very low rpm....the sound & the smell...just glorious! Cheers, Pickles. |
