United Kingdom 2015 Defender 110 Puma 2.2 USW Corris Grey
Drove up to Sandringham in the 110 to collect the lot I won in Holts gun auction last week. Saw several Pumas up that way and duly returned the waves Thumbs Up Steve.
Owned numerous Land Rover vehicles of all shapes and sizes over the decades.
Current Defender: A non tarts hand-bagged Puma 110 XS USW.

[Insert something impressive here such as extensive list of previous Land Rovers or examples of your prestigeous and expensive items, trinkets, houses, bikes, vehicles etc]

I used to be Miserable ...but now I'm ecstatic.

those old disco's really miss the air suspension of the d3+, the fixed towbar on the back being used as a plough doesn't help either!

Wow they've given it some pain in the few months they've been using it as demo! Laughing

We used to have a 110 just like that, a G reg County Station Wagon TD. Probably one of the worst engines Land Rover have ever made - it spent more time in bits than anywhere else. It was still loved though. 2005 Td5 | 90 Station Wagon | Tonga Green

I spent an entire ten hours just to change the following:
Rear anti-roll bar saddle rubbers,
Rear shock absorber upper bushes,
Brake pads.
Ten hours.
Really made me stop and think that it's time to call it a day with the Defender.
At ten years old even the simplest job means an hour or two of hacking, bashing, cutting, sawing, grinding, drilling and generally smashing f*** out of it just to get the thing apart.
Then the brake caliper pistons refused to retract, again due to horrendous corrosion, so now I'm not even sure the brakes are that effective since the new pads are so firmly wedged in I doubt they move. Brake pedal now feels spongey too where it was rock solid previously. And bleeding isn't an option as the bleed screws are all corroded and seized (obviously).
I used to enjoy spannering the Landy but I just can't be arsed even trying to sort it out any more as I know even the smallest job will end up being a fight.
If it had sat in a field for the last ten years I'd feel less Censored off, but it hasn't, and as it is it's just one bloody thing after another Confused

The thing is, I really don't think it will.
It's become relentless of late and this year alone has seen: new rad, new fan, new steering box, new clutch, new gearbox, god knows how many new bushes and ball joints.
And in the next six-to-twelve months I'm looking at a new rear cross member.
Besides cost, the sheer time it's taking to keep this thing on the road is getting genuinely unrealistic and ultimately unsustainable.
Luckily I've had plenty of time off lately, but keeping the Defender just road worthy (that's before we get to any upgrades or modifications) has become a full-time job lately and will have to take a back seat as of next week. Yesterday's episode would've pretty much wiped out a normal weekend.

Contemplated power washing the crud off mine but i have ran out of TFR so left it on the road for the rain to slacken the mud off... a bit of blood and mud on the rubber loadliner and front mats to sort out... tomorrow. 2008 RS4 gone, 123d M Sport, and a Puma 90 XS..
