Onto wheels of a different function.

When the Momo steering wheel arrived. It came with a center horn button, with a bright logo on it. I kept thinking what to do about that. I like the stripped down look of no horn button, looking straight into the boss, and bowler did send me a nice solid billet boss.

In the end I found a place in California, Aerogenics, that make billet horn covers. So bingo. If anyone is thinking the same with their Momo wheel. This is what I have, and it's made in the USA. Trying to keep as much made in the UK as I can, which is why I like Bowler.

Momo, Italy, horn cover USA, still works OK with me.

Urban use. There will be some changes soon, so taking a few more pics before that happens. I call this one 'Night Clubbing'.

Still 100% undecided about wheels, do like the twisted 18" etc and Bowler 16" etc. So I'm just going to avoid that decision for the time being.

Just had a service today. And this if for anyone new to Defenders. That factory new feel can be obtained somewhat with a a new drivers seat back, steering wheel and gear knob.

All recent changes I have done after 10 years and the car feels like new. Check out the old seat foam.
So much so that I am feeling my right elbow hit the door card again.

It's been a while. I have been adding bits to the truck. But struggling to find time to document it all. Gives me even more appreciation to those forum users that document their builds so comprehensively.

Found myself in a decent looking industrial car park today so quickly snapped a pic on the phone. Wish I had my camera, maybe another time.

There are new parts on the car. This dark pic just does not show any Rolling with laughter call it a teaser. I'll have to get out this weekend, for a proper 'less arty' photo op. Gotta love the 90 silhouette though.

That's why they say, "the best camera, is the one you have on you". So true!

More pics to come. In fact, here is another on the phone...testing the handbrake!

HA! Sorry L110CDL missed this reply. Sorry.

Yep, that looks pretty strange under the car.... alien? Could be drainage or something. I'll have to check that out next time I am there.

No joke, that was a steep hill. It was actually quite freaky parking there. Parked, pulled the handbrake hard as possible (noted it worked), put into first gear. Took the pic and then struggled to walk up the hill to the top Rolling with laughter

OK, some progress is being made. I'll post more picture soon. Pulled the bumper off. Spraying ACF-50 and ready for the Bowler bumper to go on.

Got to say, it's labeled as a lightweight bumper. And yup! after taking the LR bumper off, I am sure original bumper must be close to twice the weight of the Bowler replacement.

Pic's of Bowler bumper to come soon.

So the Momo kit from Bowler with boss. I don't mind the huge original truck like steering wheel on the defender. But wanted something for a change.

Initial feedback. The smaller Momo wheel, does not feel that great initially. Plus, factor that it obscures the most useful part of the rev counter.

After 10 years with the original it just felt, NQR. But then again everything in the defender is NQR. So I have given time to get used to it.

After 2 months, got to say I am used to it. Appreciate the look and enjoy driving with the smaller Momo wheel. If anything the truck is a bit more fun to drive and I like the utilitarian 'vibe'. And it is a fun evolution, so even the yellow logo is fine.

All the modifications I'm doing are reversible, and everything is put into storage for the future.

After 10 years of harsh sunlight the rear stop lamps are looking tired. I have been in vain trying to find genuine LEP stop lights. But gave in and bought Wipac units. They are ok and do the job, and will probably hold up to sunlight better than the original units.

But the colour and overall finish is just not as nice as the original units. So I will be on a hunt and will pay the x3 premium for original units. I realise I'm a sentimental old fart that will pay more for nicer things, and country of origin is important to me.

Finally I changed the 10 year old battery in the rarely used key fob. It was still working, only just.

After reading on this forum, I felt armed to tackle this very simple job. But... out of curiosity I intentionally changed the battery next to the car. And indeed no matter how many times I pressed the lock and unlock button, it did not work.

So I took the fob far away form the defender. Pulled the battery out and quickly back in. Tried it and it worked straight away. So yes, great helpful info on this forum, as always.
