Usually a good whack with a lump hammer works for me, you are aware that its a left hand thread?.

I think I read a post that on the tdci, it is a normal right hand thread. 1988 90 Hard Top, 19J Diesel Turbo, Shire Blue - Restoration ongoing

I have tried every method under the sun.
I’ve even given it a go with the hammer drill on chisel Function on the edge of the nut as I’ve seen in another thread. Have just made a long bar to put on back of the pulley tool and it’s now just ripping the spanner off the viscous nut. it is seized solid. I am turning it anti clockwise is this correct? 2008 Puma tdci |

Have you tried going clockwise? try tapping a flat bar on the flats of the nut to try and shock it.

Viscous fans are always undone in the same direction the fan rotates when the engine is running.

Here’s a tip, wrap your knuckles is a towel before starting, you will take the skin off them when it goes. Ask me how I know. Twice!
