The reviewer did a decent job of critiquing INEOS design features. However, I took exception to adding more leather accents, as it only adds cost.
Also, he stated the side rails were nerf steps. I understand the side rails are more like rock sliders because the attachment is to the ladder frame. Nerf Steps are typically attached to the body, at least here in the US. I believe the side rails will protect the rocker panels and can be used as a lift point, which you cannot do with nerf steps. He was a bit critical of all the plastic, but had all the panels throughout the interior been constructed of metal, the vehicle weight would be at least 400-500 pounds heavier (180-225 kg). In the cargo area, possibly INEOS could design the plastic panels to attach to visible metal brackets (or strips) that are fastened to body structural elements. This would allow the owner to have solid mounting points for addition of modifications on the walls of the cargo area. I'm pleased the reviewer reversed himself about the small door opening first. Having owned an FJ Cruiser, I'm happy to see the rear door can be opened from inside the vehicle. He did make an excellent point about rear lights not being visible when the rear doors are open. I'm happy with the lever parking brake. Simply and effective. My FJ Cruiser was the first year (2007) and did not have a rear facing camera, but did have the backup sonar, like designed with the Grenadier. I now own a 2020 Tacoma that does have a backup camera, which is mostly wasted on me, except for trailer hookup. Until the Tacoma, I was able to remove the interior rear view mirror and just use the side mirrors. I love the unobstructed forward view without the interior mirror and I am very excited to see the Grenadier mirror looks to be easy to detach and has no electronic information displayed on the mirror. |

I’m a bit baffled as to how they’ll get away with the rear lights being obscured with the boot open. In the UK and EU at least some of the rear lights must remain visible. You may recall how cars like the Shogun and Vitara sold here had the lights moved or duplicated in the lower bumper, leaving the redundant light clusters in the original location. The Vauxhall Insignia estate had additional lights inside the open rear hatch for the same reason. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS

I’d thought I’d read that the reason for those little lights towards the edge on the new Def was to solve that problem. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS

Nah... the spare with door open covers the lights - there is a topic on here somewhere.
I bought a push bike rear light that would strap to the door handle - in the event of needing the door open for an extended time if needed. |

Land Rover sorted the covering of the rear lights many years ago by sticking them in the rear bumper.
On the Feelander 1 the higher lights don't do very much.  Click image to enlarge I can't believe they have unlearnt this? (I guess the Gren will have to have the same). |

I had an interesting conversation with my daughters fiancé at the weekend during a family get together.
He is a Land Rover technician at a large dealership in Somerset and was telling me how he has been headhunted by a large independent 4X4 specialists in the South West. After accepting the position he spent a couple of his days off looking around the workshops and getting to know the business. The owner of the business was very excited as he has been in talks with Ineos and will be one of their Grenadier service centres. He starts full time on Monday so I have asked him to keep his ear to the ground on further updates. Jim |

Could be wrong but I don’t think they use them anymore. Engines are likely to be B57 and B58 petrol and diesels I’d have thought.
